As we respond to the challenges presented by COVID-19, we are offering a number of ways to connect virtually as a congregation. See below for a list of ways we can continue to be the body of Christ, even in a time of social distancing:
Sunday Worship on Zoom and YouTube: Join us for worship on Sundays at 11 am through Zoom or watch the livestream on the First Trinity/St. Matthew YouTube Channel. Worship materials will be emailed and posted to the Google Drive. After the service has concluded, the video will remain available to watch on YouTube, and will be posted the following week to the St. Matthew Facebook Page. The sermon audio will also be posted here. You don't need a YouTube or Facebook account to watch the service. If you wish to participate via Zoom, email the pastors or the church offices.
Pastor Katie’s Virtual Coffee Hours: Sign up for a 30-minute slot to connect with Pastor Katie to chat, pray, study the Bible, etc. Hours are from 9 am - 3 pm on Mondays, and 10:30 am - 1 pm on Tuesdays, and it's possible to connect using GoogleHangouts, FaceTime, your phone, Skype, or whatever digital medium is most convenient for you - she will follow up with you to figure out the details. Sign up here.
Tuesday Evening Fellowship and Prayer: Gather on Zoom with us and friends from Grace Lutheran Church and beyond for a series of fellowship, prayer, and worship opportunities on Tuesday evenings on Zoom. Join at 6:30 pm for guided conversation over dinner, at 7 pm for responsive prayer, at 7:15 pm for quiet meditation, and/or at 7:40 pm for compline - a service of prayer at the close of the day.
Wednesday Noon Bible Study: Join us on Wednesdays at noon for a Bible Study using Zoom. We will discuss the sermon text for the coming Sunday, and will take some time to pray with/for one another. Email Pastor Tom or Pastor Katie for the Zoom link.
Wednesday Evening Easter Bible Study:Join Pastor Huber on Wednesdays at 7:15 pm on Zoom for a Bible Study focusing on the biblical witness to our Lord’s resurrection, including the witness of St. Paul and the Gospels. We will explore the earliest witness to Jesus’ resurrection, the motif of the Empty Tomb, the similarities and uniqueness of the Gospels’ Easter Morning story and the Post-Resurrection Narratives. Bring your Bible, your curiosity, your critical skills, your wonder for God’s redemptive actions and your anticipation of surprise! Zoom info will be sent Wednesday mornings. Contact Pastor Huber with questions.
20s/30s Virtual Happy Hour: Join other 20s/30s members of the congregation and friends for a virtual happy hour every Thursday from 5-6 pm on Google Hangouts. We'll take some time to check in with one another, chat about what's on our minds, and pray. Email Pastor Katie for a calendar invite.
Volunteer/Assistance Sign up: Those who choose to practice social distancing or self-quarantine will struggle in the coming days and weeks to access the things they need - groceries, prescriptions, household supplies, etc. If you are stuck at home and need something specific, are running low on supplies because you're out of work, or are willing to run an errand and drop things off, let us know by signing up on this form or by calling the First Trinity Office (202-737-4859) or the St. Matthew Office (202-800-4600). Instructions for how to safely provide this service will be provided.
